Wildwood Personnel Take Part in Sabbath School Program

                                                                                                                               Audio on health theme talk

The Sabbath services on April 28, 2018 began with a song service led by Angela Volpe, accompanied by Mark Kent on the piano.  The opening song was “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”.  Personnel from Wildwood in Georgia, a self-supporting health training school, took part in the program and in teaching the Sabbath School classes.

Lesei Ncube welcomed everyone, talked about Christ being the center of our lives, and had prayer. Oliver (junior) read the scripture reading – Matthew 9:35 “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

Leilani (sophomore) read a mission story about a person who left Mexico to go to teach in the Marshal Islands. The Lord worked out the visa problem she had. She then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Jakob and Isaac (sophomores) and which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips. Samantha (sophomore) played the piano while the offerings was being collected.  Jara (sophomore) played “How Great Thou Art” on her harp for special music.

Debbrah from Wildwood had the theme talk on “Health and the Gospel”. Kathleen Quitoriano had the closing prayer and explained the classes.  Wildwood students and staff members taught the Sabbath School classes.

Following are a few notes from Debbrah’s talk:

  1. Ellen White says that medical missionary work is an entering wedge to proclaiming the gospel.
  2. We should know how to help people with any kind of diseases to reach people’s hearts.
  3. Wildwood went to New Jersey and to Texas to train people to do this work.
  4. When Wildwood does a health expo, they do individual surveys of an hour in length.
  5. Health expos are staged in either the church or the community. Often they go to people’s homes with all the ingredients and needed utensils and put on cooking schools.
  6. The teams also do massage, relieving pain with natural remedies and God’s power.
  7. One lady had a very bad knee, but a charcoal poultice relieved the pain and swelling.
  8. Ellen White says that combining health expo work with proclaiming the gospel is the best way.
