The Sabbath services on December 1, 2018 began with a song service led by Jissel (senior) and Maria (junior), accompanied by Leilani (junior) on the piano.
After the opening song, Vanessa (junior) welcomed everyone. Itzel (senior) and Haydee (junior)had prayer and read the scripture reading – Colossians 3:16-27 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
Leilani talked about personal experiences she had had canvassing and the answered prayers she had had. Eric (senior) and Eldric (sophomore) collected the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips.
Rebecca Nowdesha had the theme talk on God’s Word and its place in our lives. She illustrated this by using two chairs, one representing God’s Word, which creates life and joy. A second chair represented our words, which can create life or death (Proverbs 18:21). Taken together, the two show that God promises to live in us (2 Peter 1:4). God’s Word are letters to us, which is the reason we should memorize Scripture.
Ashley (sophomore) had the closing prayer and announced the classes. Clayton Brandt led the lesson study in the main sanctuary, Pedro Arce the class “behind the glass” at the back of the church sanctuary, Rich Sutton the class in the boys’ dorm lobby, and Ruan Swanapool the class in the nursing home.
