Rebecca Nowdesha Discusses What Is Really Important

The Sabbath services on February 16, 2019 began with a song service led by Cesia and Yuli (juniors), accompanied by Leilani (junior) on the piano.  The opening song was “Take My Life and Let It Be”.

Denesse (junior) welcomed everyone, had prayer, and read the scripture reading – Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

Rebecca Nowdesha talked about her canvassing group selling their books in the Dayton projects. The girls went to one house where a lady was sick. She seemed interesting in what the girls had to offer. She appreciated the repeat visits the students made.

She then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Itzel and Jissel (seniors) and which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips.  Maria (junior) played a violin solo, accompanied by Leilani on the piano. Words for the melody Maria was played were put on the screen. A sample of the words follows – “Show your perfect love through me. Let your grace control me.”

Rebecca Nowdesha had the theme talk on “What Is Most Important”, had the closing prayer, and announced the classes.  Clifton Brandt led the lesson study in the main sanctuary, Rich Sutton “behind the glass” in the rear of the church sanctuary, and Scott Sterling in the boys’ dorm lobby.

Following are some notes on Rebecca Nowdesha’s talk:

  1. Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
  2. One man started paying for all the outings his group of friends went on. He also helped all his friends out, too. But his washerwoman revealed that this man was paying her for his washing. He also owed stores quite a few debts. Then he started borrowing money to lend it to his friends. An opportunity to invest in a business, but he didn’t have it.
  3. Another person made sure that he paid all his accounts on time, and he was able to take the opportunity to invest in the business.
  4. The first man decided to pay off his debts and send money to his mother, changing his life completely.  So he was able to go into business and support his mother in her old age.
  5. Many times we need to decide what is most important in our lives and do those things first.
