Sophomores Talk About Adventist Church Origins

The Sabbath services on October 20, 2018 began with a song service led by Rebecca Nowdesha, accompanied by Leilani (junior) on the piano.  The opening song was “The Church Has One Foundation”.  The program dealt with the origin of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with small segments of church history in between various parts of the program. Various sophomores impersonated early Adventist pioneers with Heissel (sophomore) announcing each segment.

Benny welcomed everyone, and Elena had prayer and read the scripture reading – Proverbs 4:18 “But the path of the just [is] as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

Eric (senior) told about his personal spiritual experience. Eldric (sophomore) translated. He then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Ashur (sophomore) and Holden and which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips.

Mr. Bradford, Benny’s father, read Isaiah 54:8 “In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.” The Bradford family ensemble then played “Spirit of the Living God” for special music.

The congregation sang “My Faith Looks Up to Thee”.  Heisel had the closing prayer, and Benny announced the classes.  Clifton Brandt led the lesson study in the main sanctuary, Ruan and Kate Swanapool the class in the nursing home, Rich Sutton in the boys’ dorm lobby, and Joubert Pierre “behind the glass” in the rear of the church sanctuary.
