The Sabbath services on November 10, 2018 began with a song service led by Jissel (seniors) accompanied by Leilani (junior) on the piano and Jeremy Westcott on the organ. Ernesto (junior) ran the P.A. system under the direction of Scott Sterling.
The opening song was “Moment by Moment”. Michael (senior) welcomed everyone, Itzel (senior) had prayer, and Jissel (senior) read the scripture reading – Daniel 10:1 “In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing [was] true, but the time appointed [was] long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.”
For the mission story, Michael and Eric talked about their mission experience in Florida. One group went to a house thinking it would be a quick job. But the branches had to be put in the woods instead of out by the road due to the length of the driveway. The elderly man kept one tree the way it was in memory of the storm.
Michael and Eric collected the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips. Eldric (sophomore) and Jissel (senior) then sang a duet for special music, accompanied by Eric on the piano.
Eric (senior) had the theme talk, had the closing prayer, and announced the classes. Clayton Brandt led the lesson study in the main sanctuary, Raun and Kathy Swanepoel the class in the nursing home, Pedro Arce in the boys’ dorm lobby, and Rich Sutton “behind the glass” in the rear of the church sanctuary.

- Daniel had no food for three weeks.
- Daniel 10:9-12 “9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. 10 ¶ And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and [upon] the palms of my hands. 11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.”
- An angel was sent from God when Daniel started to pray.
- Daniel 10:12-13 “12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.”
- Sometimes God answers right away, sometimes in the future, and sometimes never as far as we can see.
