Pedro Arce Talks About Immeasurable Love
.

Sabbath services on April 1, 2017 began with a piano introit by Jairit (senior). George (sophomore) and Keonwoo (senior) led the song service, accompanied by Jairit on the piano and a group of students playing various instruments. Yeimi (senior) welcomed everyone.  The opening song was “Showers of Blessing”. Sam (senior) had prayer and read the scripture reading.

Ginny Arce then showed a short video from Nigeria. Pedro Arce had the superintendent’s remarks on “Immeasurable Love”.
Samy (junior) then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Mark (9th grader) and Cesar (senior) and which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips.  Leilani (9th grader) had the closing prayer.

The congregation then became two Sabbath School classes, one taught by James Brenneman in the church sanctuary and one taught by Bob and Michelle Gustafson at the back of the sanctuary “behind the glass”.

Following are a few notes from the theme talk:
  1. Love, for some people, means money. Some finds of treasure illustrate how much money meant to people.
  2. The Spanish, for example, built galleons to transport their gold back to Spain. In 2015 one of these ships was found under the water near the Florida coast, one of the biggest treasures of this type found in history.
  3. In 1922, the tomb of King Tut was discovered in Egypt. Treasures found in the tomb totaled 4.3 million dollars.
  4. Mark 10:21 “Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”
  5. Note that Jesus “loved” him because this person was yet unreached but had need of nothing.
  6. Are we today missing something in our hearts?
  7. In 1658 a ruler started building the Taj Mahal in India. 20,000 people died over a period of 22 years to build it. If you sing near this monument, the sound will spread through the entire area.
  8. But God’s love is immeasurable.
  9. In order to get something, you must pay for it. Whom did Jesus have to pay for our salvation?  The Law of God.
  10. Mark 10:21 “Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”
  11. Jesus loved him despite his treasures.  Jesus today is calling us to love Him and reminds us that price is already paid.
