Elementary Students Have Program

Sabbath services on May 14, 2016 began with a song service led by Terrian and Samantha (elementary) accompanied on the piano by Edi (elementary). The opening song was “Come Thou Font of Every Blessing”.

Angelene (elementary) read a mission story from Papua New Guinea. Gabriel (elementary) then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Gabriel and Rueben (elementary).  Dave (senior) played the piano during the Penny Offering. Rosemarie Jeffries had a prayer for the offering. The Laurelbrook Elementary School string group then had special music.

Alana (elementary) had the theme talk titled “Don’t Look Back”.  Alana (elementary) then had closing prayer.  TerriAnn (elementary) then announced that the time had come for the Sabbath School classes. The congregation then broke up into three Sabbath School classes – an adult Sabbath School class in the sanctuary taught by Clifton Brandt, a student class in the back of the sanctuary “behind the glass”, and a student class in the CNA building taught by Hillis Jeffries.
Following are a few notes from the theme talk:
  1. Luke 9:62 “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
  2. It’s hard to follow someone if you take your eyes off them.
  3. Genesis 19:26 “But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” She looked back and was involved in the city’s destruction.
  4. Jesus warned that His coming would be sudden.
  5. Luke 17:32-33 “32 Remember Lot’s wife. 33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.”
  6. As Christians, we shouldn’t look back at our old sinful way but forward to the life Jesus has promised.
