Sabbath School Concentrates on Witnessing
.

Sabbath services on April 23, 2016 began with a song service led by Pedro Arce, accompanied on the piano by Samantha (elementary). The opening song was “Wonderful Words of Life”.   Stephany (senior) welcomed everyone and had prayer.

Eric (senior) read a mission story from Fiji about the miracles that God performed so a church could open near the university. He then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Tony and Benjie (seniors).  Ginny Arce played her flute, Dave (senior) played his violin, and Samantha accompanied the two on the piano for special music.

Mr. Theo had the superintendent’s remarks on “Bible Heroes”.  He then had closing prayer.  The congregation then became three Sabbath School classes, one taught by James Brenneman in the church sanctuary, one taught by Bob Gustafson “behind the glass” in the church, and one taught by Scott Sterling in the CNA lobby.

Following are a few notes from the theme talk by Mr. Theo:
  1. 1 Corinthians 4:9 “For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.”
  2.  “Spectacle” is like a movie being played before men and other worlds.
  3. Each decision we make in our lives contributes to this ongoing presentation to others.
  4. 2 Timothy 1:9 “Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”
  5. 2 Timothy 1:11-12 “11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”
  6. Every decision you make contributes to the final outcome of your life – heaven or otherwise. God knows whether or not we are faithful.
  7. Have you like Paul met Jesus?
  8. God saves us and then uses us for His work.
