Wendy Carr Talks About God's Plans

Sabbath services on March 19, 2016 began with a song service led by Anna Carr and Jennifer Bazelle, accompanied on the piano by Beth Brandt. The opening song was “Wholly Thine”.   Wendy Carr welcomed everyone and had prayer.

Wendy  Carr read Ephesians 2:4-7 “4 ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” She then shared a poem on what God promises (and fulfills).

Wendy Carr then read a mission story from Brazil about a woman who cared for an old-bedridden man. The lady had come to the house to find someone who had been taking Bible studies but then gave a Bible study to the old man. His daughter came and angrily told the church member that the old man had done terrible things.  Eventually many family members were baptized.
She then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Keonwoo (junior) and Jonathan (ESL student).  Anna Carr and Jennifer Bazelle then had special music, singing “You Are My All in All”.

Wendy Carr had the superintendent’s remarks on “God’s Plan”, alternating poems with hymns sung by the congregation.  She then had closing prayer.  The congregation then became two Sabbath School classes, one taught by James Brenneman in the church sanctuary and one taught by Bob Gustafson “behind the glass” in the church.
Following are a few notes from the theme talk by Wendy Carr:
  1. We need to remember that God has a plan for our lives if we will let him (hymn “Take My Life”).
  2. When we have down times, the Lord picks up and makes us whole again (hymn “Nearer, Still Nearer”).
  3. As we draw nearer to Jesus, we are never alone (hymn “Give Me Jesus”).
  4. We can walk day by day with Jesus everywhere we go (hymn “Day By Day”).
  5. Rich I am today because I have faith now. Now I have also eternity.
