Angel White Discusses Our Preparation for Heaven
.

Sabbath services on September 26, 2015 began with a song service led by Cheyna Ashe, JD (junior), and Polina (junior), accompanied on the piano by Evelyn (junior) and by a min-orchestra led by Pedro Arce. The opening song was “We’ll Build on the Rock”.

Terence White welcomed everyone and had prayer and read Colossians 3:1-17 “1 ¶ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 ¶ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 ¶ But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all. 12 ¶ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye. 14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

Samantha (elementary) read a mission story from Bangladesh about people who had a hard time when they chose to be baptized. Terence White then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Rodney Herra and Bob Gustafson.  The Arce family then sang “Troublous Times Are Here” for special music; the song was written in the little rock music studio not far from the church building.

Angel White had the superintendent’s remarks on “Building Characters for Eternity”.  The congregation then sang “When We All Get to Heaven”. She then had closing prayer.  The congregation then became three Sabbath School classes, one taught by Elizabeth Castle in the church sanctuary and one taught by Bob and Michelle Gustafson “behind the glass” in the church.

Following are a few notes from the theme talk by Angel White:
  1. What are we willing to give up in order to move?
  2. We should be getting ready to move to our heavenly country – do we really want to leave our family and friends or are we willing to bring them along with me?
  3. 1 Corinthians 3:9 “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, [ye are] God’s building.”
  4. Colossians 3:8-9 “8 ¶ But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;”
  5. This is some of the trash we need to get rid of when we prepare to move to heaven.
  6. These are the end times; we need to get on with our building of our characters.
  7. God’s Law gives us a pattern for this life-building. We need to search the Bible for ourselves to find out what the Lord says we should do when building our life building.
  8. Thoroughness is a necessary part of our character building.
  9. Colossians 3:12 “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;”
  10. Colossians 3:14-15 “14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
  11. Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
  12. Have you made of yourselves all that God wants you to be?  Have you practiced self-control?
  13. Have you been faithful in the work God has given you to do in your character-building?
  14. Are you really preparing to move to heaven as God wants you to do?
  15. Ellen White says that there will be soon a grand review of our characters – are you ready?
  16. The traits of our character we cherish will be the harvest at the end of our lives or at Christ’s Second Coming.
